Welcome to the Words and Music Show

On the 3rd Sunday of each month the Words and Music Show presents poets, storytellers, musicians, performers, dancers and improvisers.

It takes place at one of Montreal’s top alternative music venues, the Casa del Popolo, 4873 St-Laurent, Montreal. Walk past the bar take the left-hand door to the performance space and you’re there.

Our next show is on Sunday April 20th:

On that night the Words & Music Show presents two poets and two bands in one outstanding show.

Up from her home deep in Argentina is Guadelupe Muro, performing and touring Canada with her new project, Songs for Runaway Girls.

Songs For Runaway Girls is the original soundtrack composed for Guadelupe’s novel Air Carnation. Lyrics were written by Guadelupe and music is composed and performed by Ana Lopez and Julián Muro, two musicians from Argentina.

On the same evening catch two poets in performance: the wordcraft of Carole TenBrink meets the new Throw Poetry sensation, Halogen. Both these poets appeared in the Mile End Poets’ Festival earlier this month and made enough of an impression that they are back by special invitation.

Closing the show is the absorbing and beautiful work of Planet Beach, a musical collaboration that defies labels. Living between improv and alternative, the project premiered in Montreal a few months ago. It features lyrics and vocals by Robin Dann, saxophone by Mike Bjella, guitars and fx by Simon Labbé and percussion by Philippe Melanson.

The Words and Music show is hosted by Montreal poet and performer Ian Ferrier. It is sponsored by the Quebec Writers’ Federation and CKUT 90.3FM and produced by wired on Words Productions.
